Branded Entertainment - web series 7

Today the New York Times had an article about Blip.tv releasing a new web series funded by 7-Eleven.

Blip will produce and syndicate the web series both on the front page of their website as well as across AOL, iTunes, Yahoo and a handful of other partners.  The actual content in the series follows 2 teams as they race across the country only stopping at 7-Eleven's along the way where they will compete in challenges and competitions.  7 Eleven is also going to create a microsite and set up social networks for the audience to comment and share information.

I'm excited to see how the series turns out (it starts on May 10th through the 28t)!  This is a great example of how brands can really play in the online video space - pushing the content to places where the target demographic "hangs out" online, and really having fun with their brand.  It's also great that it'll be on a site like Blip.  I think it's really key for brands to exist in the space where their audience does - and not try and control every aspect of the online experience.  Blip is a great, clean looking site that has great distribution options for content producers.  Just wanted to share this with everyone and we'll for sure put more info up as the series launches and gains traction.
